Discovering How To Deal With Death; Living A Life Of Freedom in Only Ten Days!
“100 per cent of us die, and the percentage cannot be increased.” C.S. Lewis
Death is a difficult topic to talk about. It's even more difficult to face, particularly if you've got no idea what's waiting "on the other side". It's a popular belief that good people are on there way to heaven, while exceedingly bad people go to hell. But if there is no certainty, the possible can be quite terrifying.
In addition to an unknown destination when you die, there's plenty of other things which make death hard to handle. Death means separation; separation from loved ones, from things one enjoys and well…everything.
It also suggests hurting. Most individuals leave this life thru discomfort and suffering. It's not regularly one just closes their eyes, breathes their last breath and is gone without encountering some kind of agony. Regardless of whether their death arrives quickly in a wreck, there can be frightening moments just before that which make their dying experience anything except nice.
Several years ago, my first husband was diagnosed with a quickly metastasizing brain cancer and given some months to survive. When I asked him if he was afraid to die he said, "No, I am not frightened to die but I'm very terrified of the process." That appeared sensible to me. He anticipated, with great pleasure, what awaited him on the other side of death but knew the road he must take to get there would be crammed with great agony and suffering - and it was.
Separation, suffering and the unknown of dying make it understandable why people fear it so. Yet, the Bible shows us dying is something we need not fear, not if we "live" right. How we live makes all the difference in the way we die.
“If you live wrong, you can’t die right.” Billy Sunday
If one selects to live their life, for and by one's self, without God, then by their own decision, when their days are finished, the only energy source and strength they are going to have to draw upon is their own. Sadly, they'll discover their private reservoir has zip to offer them and even worse, they have no capability on their own to get to Heaven.
Jesus is the only real way to Heaven.
John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father (God who is in Heaven) but through Me.”
After we accepted Him and have a connection with God thru Him, we need not fear death any longer.
I Corinthians 15:55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
Put simply, dying no longer has the last say. Any believers in Jesus Christ, dying is not final. It is simply a doorway to our real home, our final destination, the destination we were made for. In our eternal home, all hurting, unhappiness, pain and disease will stop. We will experience joy and pleasure like we have never known. Death, then, can really become something we anticipate rather than fear due to where it will take us. Even the process of death loses its terrifying grip when we travel that journey with God, rather than all alone.
