Employing Your NLP Skills To Design Great Resource States
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) delivers a complete range of strategies and methods for causing change in both your daily life and the lives of loved ones and everybody else too. When you exercise your NLP skills on a regular basis, then you will start to discover that the quality of your relationships and your communication skills will improve dramatically. On top of that, your NLP skills will help you to be in a position to accomplish things far better and faster.
One of the things you will frequently hear talked about with respect to NLP skills is resource states. Consider that you could feel however you wish to feel any time you want, and it is just as effortless as clicking your fingers. Now that would certainly be a gift worth having!
There are probably many occasions when you would like to be in more effective command of your emotions, but as yet you have not been able to master this ability. For instance, many men and women are quite afraid of public-speaking. Even thinking about it in advance, we can change ourselves into nervous wrecks. We recall when we have been anxious in front of people previously, and we might even use our imaginations to envision all the things that might go awry. And so, it is something of a self-fulfilling phophecy.
You can notice from the example that we actually practise getting into negative resource states, such as feeling worried, on a regular basis. Although these states are not especially beneficial, we clearly know well the practice of state induction and there is no reason why we should not use the same process to create constructive resource states.
So, what kind of emotional state would be advantageous in this situation? The choice is yours, but it would probably be handy to be at ease and relaxed. Well, you do already know what it is like to be like this. Just sit back and think back to when you last felt calm and self-confident. Maybe it was yesterday or perhaps many years ago. Make sure that you really recreate the event. The more of your sensory faculties you use, the more effective it will be. Emotions, sights, noises, scents and tastes – they are all applicable.
In the unlikely event that you are not able to call to mind any instances when you experienced the kind of states that you are seeking to access, then you probably know an individual who is a role model for you, who you are able to copy. Maybe you know them personally or they are a public figure, and you can simply envision how they would approach your situation and operate as they would. Notice, listen and sense as they would and copy them.
When you have achieved the desired state, ramp it up to make it as vivid and appealing as possible. This is where one of your other NLP skills comes into play. This is called anchoring. In this case, an anchor is a trigger for the state change. So, when you are fully experiencing the state such as calm and confident, that you want to re-induce in the future, you could, for example, scratch the back of your neck or squeeze together the thumb and index finger of your right hand; it is your choice. In this way, the chosen action becomes part of the calm and confident state. So, when you do the trigger action again, for example, as you think about or enter the situation where you would previously have been nervous, you naturally enter the desired resource state.
When you become a master of the NLP skills of inducing useful resource states and effectively anchoring them, then you bring so many more possibilities into your daily life because you know that you can't be thrown by any situation. Even if you are initially, you have the necessary skills to restore the situation and ensure that you perform to the best of your ability.
