I Don't Want to Hurt My Girlfriend When is the Best Time to Break Up With Her?

You've made the decision that now is the time to call things quits with your girlfriend. You still have strong feelings for her and realize that you once cared very deeply for her. You firmly believe that she is a good person and doesn't deserve to be hurt. You just don't feel like the relationship is working for you and don't believe it can be fixed. But, you don't know when a good time to break up with her would be.

Try the Band-Aid® Method

If you've ever had to wear a Band-Aid® for a few days you know how it can hurt when you take it off. Conventional wisdom tells you that if you're slow and careful the pain won't be quite as notable. That's not the case with Band-Aids. It feels like they've been stuck to your skin with super glue or some sort of cement. It hurts!

The entire time you're slowly pulling it's just hurting a little more. It becomes a sort of lingering and transferring pain as you move the length of the bandage.

But, if you grab on and rip it off all at once, it still hurts but then the pain is over much faster.

She's going to be hurt no matter what. She loves you and breaking up won't instantly stop that. But if you draw things out and treat her distantly or poorly while you're trying to work out the best way to end things it will hurt her slowly, deeply, and much longer than she would hurt if you were honest with her as soon as you made up your mind.

Oddly enough, you'll feel better about yourself, your relationship, and your girlfriend (or ex girlfriend as the case may be) once you've gotten the breakup behind you. It's a weight on your shoulders whether you realize it or not. Ending the relationship eases the weight to some degree.

The bottom line is that there is NEVER a good time to break someone's heart. However, you shouldn't stick with a relationship you believe is failing or stay with someone you no longer love just to avoid hurting them. Besides, you'll only end up hurting them worse if you do that.

Sometimes you discover, after the fact, that you were a little hasty in your decision to call things off. Now you want a second chance. If that happens, there is help for how to get your ex back. In fact, if you watch the video in the link above you'll have the perfect opening to really get her attention – even though you were the one who left in the first place.
