Should You Skip Valentine's When Facing A Breakup?
Every relationship will have good days, weeks, months and years as well as those that aren't so good.. It's part of the process. When the road seems rocky in your relationship it might seem like a good time to draw back and think long and hard about what you're going to do for a big day like Valentine's day. The actions you take right now can stop your breakup from ever happening. You just have to know the right moves to make.
Does your relationship seem like a lost cause at the moment? It doesn't have to be. However, skipping Valentine's could be the ultimate kiss of death for a relationship that's on a downward spiral. Before you decide to go all in and make the big Valentine's play to save your relationship or even to get your ex back, it's a good idea to take a few small steps first.
Decide Where You Want Your Relationship to Go
Relationships, like everything else in life need to be going somewhere. You need goals. You need a plan. Ideally this would be something you'd work on together but if times are tough between the two of you then it's a good idea to take a step back and decide what direction you'd like to see your relationship take.
You don't have to have happily ever after mapped out. But, it is a good idea to be certain that you do want to have a future together before you go to all the trouble of trying to stop your breakup or get your ex back.
More importantly, you need to be sure you actually want to save the relationship. Decide whether or not it's really worth going to the effort to you. Some people are so focused on the unexpected nature of the problems or the breakup that they lose sight of why they're even trying to save the relationship to begin with.
It's not until after they've gotten what they thought they wanted that they realized they didn't really want it after all. Don't let this happen to either of you. It's simply prolonging the painful ending for both of you.
Keep Your Gifts Simple but Meaningful
People have gotten the wrong idea about Valentine's Day over the years. It's not about giving the biggest, most expensive, or most extravagant gift possible. That's never what it was all about. It's supposed to be about small tokens of love, affection, and esteem.
In the beginning it was about cards and maybe flowers or chocolates. Now it's a month-long event with dinners out, new clothes, jewelry, and countless other related expenses. It can add up fast if you aren't careful. That places an even bigger burden on relationships today – especially relationships where money management is a bone of contention.
Valentine's gifts can be a tricky proposition when your relationship is going through a rough patch. But finding a nice token of your love and appreciation can set the tone to save your relationship or even get your ex back.
