Why A Cleansing Diet Can Make You Feel Worse

Many people dread swimsuit season. Scores of otherwise health conscious citizens subject themselves to deprivation diets, or look to a detox diet, or start an intense exercise regimen, often in blazing hot weather, to look slimmer in revealing clothes because of the need to fit into the image that they think they must portray but instead many unwittingly end up harming their health.

Early June and January are the two times of year people do crazy, desperate things to get thin fast so they go on fasts, yo-yo diets, detox diets, and ‘cleanses’ without realizing that there are serious consequences to weight loss and nutrient restriction and they do not realize that crash dieting does not work and can be dangerous because of a message that gets lost in the national clamor over rising rates of overweight and obesity. It is important to know what you are getting into when you are considering a detox plan.

You can damage your cardiac system with a detox plan. Some people believe that very low calorie regimens are based on the false theory that the body needs help eliminating waste. If a person is not getting enough fuel their body can go into a conservation mode and actually use less energy. This can lead to future weight gain. It also deprives your body of essential nutrients. The things that occur with these programs does not have to be permanent damage. There can be some very harmful effects if a person follows a pattern of reckless dieting. Long-term calorie-cutting can eventually lead to heart muscle loss.

Beware of fad diets. There is plenty of research about the dangers of these types of programs. This is especially true when the diets become a fad. In one case the diet seemed to work wonders. Some people reported losing as many as 10 pounds a week on the formula. As more people tried the diet, more people were reported to have health issues that were cropping up. For some people the strain of the diet caused them to hurt their cardiac system due to the lack of nutrients that were needed.

There has been plenty of research about the harmful effects of these programs. When a person is using these programs they have a lower amount of the essential minerals and vitamins that their body needs to stay healthy and keep their heart working well. Studies have also found that the diets can cause a drop in blood pressure and sodium depletion.

The true extent of the risk posed by crash diets is unclear, however. A person is watched intensely when they are examining the effects of these programs on them. Check with your physician to make sure what you are planning to do is safe for you before you begin. But crash dieters are more likely to consult their friends than a doctor. This leads to the problems that many people face.

Using a cleansing system is not always going to work for everyone. Extreme diets are simply bad for you and they don’t work according to their detractors. That does not stop people from using them.

Getting fit and trim is not a difficult process. Being obese can cause a person many health problems at some point in their life. If a person can lose just ten percent of their weight they will have a better chance of staying healthier.

But it’s important to lose fat naturally, which usually means slowly as most experts recommend dropping just 1 to 2 pounds a week, and despite what some brand-name diets claim, the best way to do so is to exercise regularly and stick to a diet that limits saturated fat and sugars and emphasizes fruits and vegetables, lean meats and fish, and whole grains. The process of losing weight requires a person to eat right and get physically active. In order to get healthy and stay that way, it is the best plan.
