Binaural Beats: An Introduction

Binaural beats, also known as binaural tones, are perceived sounds that occur in the brain for certain physical stimuli. These audio processing artefacts have been said to have a positive effect on people, as it could help induce ingenuity, relaxation and all other healthy mental conditions. It operates by triggering the responses of the mind at a certain level, and then conditioning the brain to do anything that might be hard for it do all by itself.

This kind of brain entertainment is systematically made to stimulate a desired brain response at a frequency that no human being can hear. The brain generates the binaural sound from the tones that are given by various sound hertz detected by one’s right and left ear, enabling it to turn the hertz into beats. As a result, it can have a relaxing effect on the mind, or help improve its alertness, depending on the sound hertz.

Discovered in the late 1800s, it was not, however, until the late 20th century that it gained recognition throughout the world with the help of an associate professor from the University of Berlin named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove. He unintentionally found out that two same sounds with a somewhat varied frequency can cause a rhythm or beat type effect in the brain when carried out individually to the right and left ear.

Yet it was only in the year 1973 that Dr. Gerald Oster discovered the many benefits of the beats for both the brain and body.

With the binaural tones, a person is capable of entering into a deep state of meditation, which in turn lets these beats reprogram one’s subconscious mind.

Their recordings at particular frequencies make use of a combination of sounds so as to change the listener’s activity in the brain. By engaging one into a state of meditation, the unique tones in the binaural beats have the capability to induce positive alterations in one’s physical, emotional and mental well-being.

They can also be able to reorganize one’s neural network, thereby increasing the level of comfort to relieve the person from stress.

The said meditation is actually a hypnagogic trance, wherein it usually needs a person to dedicate his lifetime on focus to fulfil this. The alterations in the patterns of the brainwave are translated to alterations in the body’s chemical reaction. This functions along with positive affirmation to help make one’s personal development, phobias and emotional issues, as well as other desired behavioural changes better. They too are able to promote a good boost in energy, similar to that taken in when the body is at rest.

To sum it all up, the main advantage of binaural beats is that they can get access to one’s subconscious mind, thereby creating deep meditation states to change one’s perception to further rid him of stress and improve his intelligence. One can attain these chances with little or no effort at all; all he needs to do is get a pair of headphones and start listening to those beats.
