“God is still speaking, but are we listening?”
Think of that question. Don’t you think that maybe true? It is actually true! Definitely God is still speaking. But, do we listen? Or do we recognize that it actually was God speaking to us?
That’s actually the title of an article I have read recently. Moreover, I got interested with it since I believe every person should ask this to himself or herself. God exists; we only should open our minds and our hearts. He is just there watching over us. He is the one that will guide our life whenever we only believe and trust in Him.
This article was about a guy named John Coleman. It’s about his experience when he gone to live in New York. He had lots of experiences there. But, I thought this really is common to all of us; since we live in a very busy world today. When you attempt to observe your environment, it is very noisy and you tend to become annoyed with it. Often it could easily get you to being stressed.
John coleman said, “The noise that seems jumbled and senseless sometimes begins to develop meaning and order after a period of listening. We begin to pick out the sound that is important and filter out the rest, but it takes time.”
His experience in the city is something that opened into the probability of hearing God’s voice. You will notice that in order to know from where the sound or voice came from, you must bear in mind and familiar about it. We experience sometimes that people became familiar with the noise we hear everywhere, even the voices of the people from the outside our home as well as their footsteps. You will be familiar with the surroundings once you know yourself where’s that voice coming from. It might take us a long time to determine all of the voice we hear, but as time goes by we will be aware of it. This might also be meaningful to you, as what John Coleman is trying to point out.
This scenario is the same as what Samuel had experience with hearing the voice of God. At the beginning, he think it is priest Eli calling him, however it was actually God; and that he continuously listen to the voice.
The point hear is, I simply wished to share to you about the experience on hearing God’s voice. Because we are living in a busy world, we cannot realize that God is actually speaking to us. However, all of us had chance in hearing God’s voice. We just must put our faith and trust in God to take action. I suppose, hearing is quite different with listening. To be able to hear God’s voice, we need to lend our ears and listen to Him carefully. God is actually speaking to us every day of our lives. It’s just on our part that people aren’t open to the opportunity of hearing God’s voice.
